This ongoing project is focused on my research into the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang, an oasis situated at a religious and cultural nexus on the Silk Road in China. My work is a synthesis of symbolic elements from Dunhuang murals and my contemplations on multiculturalism and ancient art. Given that there are 492 caves in Dunhuang, I have titled this series “Cave 500”.
