Play in the Field is an installation that combines bamboo objects, lithograph prints, and video and sound recordings. In this work, I revisit the field as both a physical and conceptual space. The installation reconstructs the rhythms of rural life through handmade bamboo spheres and sound-based interactions, inviting viewers into a landscape where play, labour, and memory intertwine. Sound serves as a means of recalling lost or displaced environments, while the responsive materiality of bamboo resists fixed forms.
The accompanying print series, Following this Wave, extends this inquiry through lithograph on Xuan paper. The process—water pressed into plates and ink absorbed into Chinese brush painting paper—reflects a slow, accumulative gesture that echoes Michel Serres’ idea of tradition as an ongoing negotiation.
